Today I want to approach my reasoning for the event a group of us are running in October. The event is called "Picnic on the Swan" and it is all to raise money for the Leukeamia Foundation. The point of this particular event is to hang out with your friends, with a great view, without realising all the money raised go directly to the foundation.

Most of us have heard of the leukeamia foundation, but do we really understand what they do? To be honest I didn't fully understand. My pop had Myeloma, the laymens term we used was bone marrow cancer. It is cancerous plasma cells inside the bone which are mean and weaken the bones. Myeloma is one type of blood cancer. There multiple types of blood cancers, to be honest an explanation from me would not do justice.

The most commonly divide in the strains are Luekeamia, Lymphoma and Myeloma. "Leukeamia, the cancerous cells are discovered circulating in the blood and bone marrow, while in lymphoma, the cells tend to aggregate and form masses, or tumors, in lymphatic tissues. Myeloma is a tumor of the bone marrow" - Richard Klausner, M.D.

I am not a professional at all, and don't expect anyone to study this. Everyone has some experience with cancer in one way or another, I believe it's a vicious unwanted disease. The Leukeamia Foundation, not only supports the people who have blood diseases and blood cancers and their families around them. They also fund the research around these things with a focus on reducing the brunt of blood cancers and diseases on the society.
