Winter in Perth

Like most Perthians, I hate winter. I generally like to flee Perth for warmer surrounds, last year I went back to Europe and enjoyed frolicking around Paris, London and my family in Holland. Even saying that makes me want to jump straight on a plane!
Its hardly fair to say Perth really has a bad winter, we complain about a couple of days of bad rain here and there and then clear skies as far as the eye can see. I mean last weekend it was nice enough to lay outside in a tank and some shorts. But it is so easy to shut up shop on the brisk mornings, yes it does happen, and hide away during the slow months of winter. But, never fear, there is no need to hide away. There is so many winter things to do, well things indoor at least.
Did you know it is totally a thing that places provide blankets when dining outside. Cafés all over our beautiful city are doing it. Namely, a new discovery of mine, La Fattoria in Pickering Brook. (Pictured below) Beautiful surrounds, exquisite dining and the most amazing door. I went on the coldest muddiest day and I think it made it all the more amazing running to the shed like building through the mud and rain.

Yes I know I'm not 12 anymore but I believe it is totally coming back into fashion. Bowling and iceskating, you heard me. Firstly, we don't get a proper winter so of course we can pretend we are in a winter wonderland. Malaga is my favourite but for you southsiders there is Cockburn Ice Arena which is newer, opened in 2015.
Now for some underrated beauties, Perth Institute of Contemporary Arts (PICA). Currently showcasing Hatched - National Graduate Show. AQWA is really high on my things to do, its not just for the kiddos, it is so much fun exploring the different coasts of Australia. Last but certainly not least, Fremantle as whole, just kidding, Freo Markets are quirky, fun and delicious. Its just across the road from Fremantle Prison, my favourite Perth attraction. So much history and beauty together with some quirky stories that can pop up.
