Are you ok day is this Thursday, 13 September. It begun in 2009 care of a man named Gavin Larkin. Gavin experienced the loss of his father who commit suicide in 1995. The basis behind the day is to start the conversation between colleagues, friends, family or maybe even a stranger in the street who looks visibly upset.

Unfortunately, in a 12 month period it is estimated that around 60,000 Australians will make a suicide attempt. To make that figure worse, an average of over 2000 of those people actually succeed in their attempt.

The brilliant part about this initiative, and those similar, is the conversation that it has started and the acceptance in regards to speaking about your feelings especially when you aren't feeling too wonderful. I truly believe that it is just as important that the answer to the question is 100% the truth.

The truth can be pretty scary and also quite confusing, but we all know that voicing it can definitely and quite often does help make sense of a situation. If anything, it can make you, yourself realise the truth in your thoughts. The after affect of losing you will be so much worse pain than you are feeling. Even more so, the feeling of a friend who wishes they knew before it were too late can go on for much longer than you will ever know.

Obviously, the pain and hurt that can be felt can blind any other thoughts especially for those around you. Don't forget to speak up, lean on those around you and if you feel like there isn't anyone there who care or are willing to listen there are plenty of places that can help. Follow the links below if you want some more info.

Remember, there is at the least one person who will want to be there for you!
